The network's Premier Fresh Series of 2025 Secures a Major Extension for Seasons 2 and 3.

During the fall season, the late-night programming block debuted a new season of its offbeat hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, not long after, the channel introduced a completely new animated series with a distinctly unique feel. Haha, You Clowns proved to be heartwarming and calm, evoking a cartoon version of a contemplative talk show. During a period often characterized by cynicism, this show's earnestness struck a chord and turned it into a surprise hit.

A Two-Season Greenlight

On December 18th, Adult Swim made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for a further two seasons. This gives showrunner Joe Cappa a massive runway to further explore the story of the Campbell family. The show follows three polite teenage brothers whose defining trait is their strong bond for their widowed father, with Cappa portraying for all four key characters.

"I’m so grateful to the fans of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and spread the word," stated Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for a little longer."

Executive Acclaim

The official statement also included commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "radically heartfelt and strangely uncanny." He thanked the fans who discovered the show and supported its peculiarly charming style.

"All of you showed up for this new show, championed for it on social media, and helped it grow week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "To quote: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Different Kind of Comedy

Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a comforting antidote" to more cynical adult animated fare. It offers something unexpectedly cozy about following this charming family navigate their everyday routines.

Previously, creator Joe Cappa expressed his goal to move the comedy genre beyond its current sarcastic tone. He traced this trend to the rise of certain blockbuster franchises.

“It feels like there's a default mode of irony that we are trapped in,” said Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for too long, and we need to laugh at something different now. Comedy has to evolve.”

What Comes Next

Now, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa could potentially be part of that change he described. Or at the very least, the renewal ensures audiences a little more time to experience the warm glow of the beloved Campbell clan.

The final episode of Season 1 of Haha, You Clowns will premiere on December 21st. All episodes is ready to watch on HBO Max.
