Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Has Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's natural for questions to be asked about his position after another convincing defeat versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their 9th defeat in 12 games, marking the club's poorest run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got a lot of backing from management,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to change things and secure a win of course but if you are in a managerial role and not doing well then it's expected that people question you.”

He added, “I accept my position. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Conversations with Club Management

Upon being questioned to provide details on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me constantly each day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “During our regular discussions I sense the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them since this game so far so we'll see.”

Familiar Problems and Player Response

The manager expressed regret over familiar weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, specifically poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his view of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder said.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a period of this nature with results like these.”

He finished, “However we still have the crest on our chest. And as long as it is removed, we’re always going to battle.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad return to its rightful place, demonstrate to all again the values of this club and why it's known as the best team in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
