Renowned Star The actor Pat Finn, Famed For Parts in The Middle and Friends, Dies at Age 60.
Stateside performer Pat Finn, who featured in beloved programs such as Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has died at the age of 60.
The comedic improv actor succumbed at his home in LA this Monday after undergoing treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, as reported by news outlets.
"Pat saw everyone as a friend - solely future friends he didn't know yet," his loved ones said in a announcement.
They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with zest and passion".
A Notable Career on Screen
His initial on-screen part was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he appeared as the titular character's brother.
He subsequently landed a repeating character on "Murphy Brown" between 1995 and 1997.
He starred as a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a social organizer known to delegate tedious tasks to his guests.
In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on numerous hit series, including:
- "King of Queens"
- "Friends"
- That '70s Show
- House
He was most recognized for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons between 2011 and 2018.
His film credits include "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
A Life in Improv
Beyond his acting parts, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and served as an educator at the Colorado university, where he was a professor.
He was part of a six-member improv team named "Beer Shark Mice".
"He guided, supported, and advised many learners over the years and it would be difficult to find someone who has anything negative to say about him," his loved ones expressed.
Paying homage, fellow actor actor Richard Kind noted there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, making those around him better and funnier. A great dad, a great guy," he posted publicly.
The actor is survived by his partner Donna, his children, and his family.
