"She does not know what to do about it," she remarked. "She holds no office, she didn't pursue any of this, and she is constantly subjected to this abuse."

They have initiated a legal action in the United States for defamation involving a political commentator who promoted the allegation.

The lawsuit asserts that the allegation is completely false and points out that the individual referenced is in fact Brigitte Macron's older brother.
