Jujutsu Kaisen: The Execution Film Strives to Fix the Anime's Biggest Issue

JuJutsu Kaisen: Execution is not entirely an original film. Instead, the recent film from the JuJutsu Kaisen supernatural series acts as a recap of the show's sophomore season stitched together with the opening installments of its third season, which begins the Culling Games storyline from the source material. This establishes Execution, which has been given a latest teaser, the quickest way to see the start of the forthcoming season ahead of its January 2026 premiere. The feature launches in Japan on Nov. 7, and in North America on Dec. 5.

The Culling Games Storyline

In the Culling Games plot, Elite sorcerer Yuta Okkotsu finally joins the television series and is assigned by jujutsu officials to take down his classmate Yuji Itadori. Their long-awaited clash unfolds for the very first time on the silver screen, and if the animation team at the studio have something as special as installments 40 and 41 prepared for viewers this holiday season, JuJutsu Kaisen: Execution may prove to be the present that fans have anticipated.

The Thunderclap Issue

"Thunderclap episodes" from season 2 is often hailed as one of the greatest sequences in anime history, notwithstanding the major issues in the previous year when the series first premiered. It was reported that the creators were suffering from harsh deadlines to the extent, and the broadcast edition that premiered at the time was unfinished and reportedly not what the artists originally planned.

The Legendary Fight

The scene involves a long-awaited battle between two strong jujutsu users, the King of Curses and the Eight-Handled Sword. It includes experimental animation, excellent direction, and dynamic fight choreography. A subsequent home video edition provided an opportunity to insert new moments to flesh out the fight. So it seemed possible Execution could improve the battle even more. However, viewing the latest preview, it's hard to tell if that fight has been given extra attention. It'd be a letdown if it didn't, because a scene of that magnitude has to be watched on the largest display with the optimal viewing experience.

The Second Season's Triumph

The second season of JuJutsu Kaisen boosted the show to become 2024's anime of the year, and when the two-part finale were aired consecutively, it was the subject of discussion for multiple weeks in the animation fandom. Audiences knew about the problems with the production, which made them admire what they saw even more. People anxiously checked to see if the disc version, released on March 18, would add any additional scenes to the battle or to see if it was refined somewhat, and were thrilled to see precisely that, alongside reshades, more motion, and altered color palette.

The Film's Potential

But the physical release can only touch up what has initially broadcast in the broadcast edition, whereas the movie has the opportunity to fully realize the scene with more adjustments and freshly created footage.

A Magnum Opus

As it stands, these episodes serve as the masterpiece of JuJutsu Kaisen, and should be given special attention by Mappa, particularly given the controversy they encountered at the time. It's captured the interest of anime fans all over the world, and the Culling Games is a much-expected plotline of the coming year. If the production company wants to begin the year strongly, run back the anime's greatest sequence once again in movie houses with the best interpretation we've witnessed to date.
