The 30-year-old sustained the injury on match day while fielding to remove Alex Carey, with Iyer holding his abdomen and showing discomfort after falling onto the SCG turf.
Medical examinations showed a laceration injury to the abdominal organ. He is under treatment, in stable condition, and showing improvement.
Treatment Process
After receiving on-field treatment, the batter did not return in the game, which India ultimately won by nine wickets. Australia had previously secured the tournament with wins in the first two matches played in Western and South Australian cities.
