Followers Demand Custody of Individual Who Seized Ariana Grande
Passionate followers of Ariana Grande are urging that a individual who breached a fence and grabbed the performer during yesterday's Wicked: For Good debut be detained or deported from Singapore.
A widely shared footage reveals the individual from Australia shoving aside media personnel and lunging at Grande while the actors made its way down a event pathway flanked by supporters.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo immediately wrested the surprised performer away from Mr Wen, who was observed being escorted out of the gathering by guards.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "let go after being taken in", though legal records indicated that he was due to be present on Friday morning. It is not clear if he was formally accused.
Pattern of Incidents
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Controversial Figure", has crashed a concert or event. His Instagram account includes clips of him interrupting other star-studded functions, including breaching the performance area at the pop singer's Sydney show in recently and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers event in the city last year.
"Steps should be implemented enforced against him as this is clearly a criminal offence," stated an Instagram user, in a message to a video Mr Wen shared of his behavior.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" one Instagram user wrote.
Followers Show Disapproval Over the Star's Well-being
Many fans accused Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had discussed dealing with PTSD after a terrorist explosion at the finale of her May 2017 concert in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and harming many.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" said one more message on Instagram.
Some attendees also faulted guards at the gathering for not being vigilant enough; while others demanded online networks to block Mr Wen's content.
Reaction and Event Details
In footage shared widely, Grande looked surprised when she was touched by the intruder. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted comforting her while Mr Wen was led out by security.
Grande has not commented on the incident, and the remaining proceedings continued without further issues.
Many of attendees had congregated in a crowd of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific launch in a Singapore venue, including several who had waited for as long as a significant duration before it started.
The movie, to be released on November 21, is the sequel of a two-film version of the popular theatrical show Wicked, which centers on the surprising bond between two very different witches.
The show itself is a derivative of the classic children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the good witch Glinda, was dressed in a champagne pink glittering gown at the event while Erivo, who acts as the Elphaba, wore a elegant ensemble embroidered with roses.
They were joined by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the most successful movie of 2024 in the UK, and received 10 Oscar nominations, winning two for excellent wardrobe and set decoration.
