Ex- Physician Charged with Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors report that a former doctor stands accused of committing assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.
The Serious Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – comprising acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
One deputy chief prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
The charges follow what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

Prosecutors outline the forty-five sexual offences he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
