Democratic lawmakers Criticize Trump After He States They Should Face Execution

Lawmakers from the Democratic party voiced outrage after former President Donald Trump accused a group of Democratic representatives of being "turncoats" and declared they should be taken into custody and punished "through capital punishment" following their posting of a disputed video.

The Recording That Triggered the Controversy

The clip, released on earlier this week, includes six Democratic lawmakers who formerly served in defense or security capacities.

"Similar to us, you all made an vow to safeguard and uphold this founding document," the representatives stated in the brief video. "And right now, the threats to our governing document don't only come from foreign nations, but from right here at home. Our regulations are unambiguous, you can decline illegal orders, you can refuse unlawful commands, you should decline illegal orders. No one has to carry out commands that contravene the law or our founding principles."

Donald Trump's Angry Reply

The recorded statement appeared to prompt a angry response from the previous commander-in-chief.

On later in the week, Trump posted on his preferred platform: "This represents SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL. Each one of these traitors to our Nation should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL."

In a separate publication, he wrote: "This represents really serious, and Dangerous to our Country. Their comments cannot be enabled to persist. SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR FROM TRAITORS!!! LOCK THEM UP???"

In a subsequent message, he added: "SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, subject to punishment by DEATH!" He also shared a declaration that stated: "HANG THEM GEORGE WASHINGTON WOULD !!"

Democratic Representatives Answer

Following Trump's statements on that day, Democratic leadership published a combined announcement condemning the remarks.

"Violent politics has no position in the United States," they declared. "Elected officials who were featured in the video all acted our United States with exceptional patriotism and honor. We strongly condemn Donald Trump's disgusting and harmful calls for execution against congressional representatives, and urge GOP representatives to strongly do the same."

The Democratic leaders also stated that they had been in touch with protective services "to ensure the security of these officials and their relatives."

"Donald Trump must immediately remove these unhinged online messages and withdraw his aggressive discourse before he gets someone killed," the statement continued.

Officials' Defiant Reaction

The lawmakers who appeared in the video also published a statement.

"We serve as veterans and security experts who love this country and made an oath to safeguard and defend the constitution of the United States," they said. "Our pledge continues forever, and we plan to keep it. No intimidation, intimidation, or promotion of aggression will deter us from that fundamental obligation."

"The significant point is that the former president views it punishable by execution for us to reiterate the legal requirements," they continued. "Military personnel should know that we have their support as they carry out their pledge to the national charter and obligation to follow only lawful orders. It is not only the correct thing to do, but also our responsibility."

They continued: "All citizens must unite and condemn the ex-president's demands for our murder and political violence. This is a period for moral clarity."

More Political Responses

The Democratic Senate minority leader also censured Trump's statements and posted on online networks: "It's important to understand: the ex-commander in chief is calling for the death of public representatives."

He stated: "This is an clear THREAT. Each congressional member, every Representative, all citizens – without partisan consideration – should denounce this immediately and unconditionally."

The Republican House speaker supported Trump's allegation that the Democrats had participated in "rebellion", labeling the video as "wildly inappropriate", commenting: "It is very risky, you have important representatives of the government advising troops to defy commands, I think that is historic in American history."

The Conservative representative also allegedly informed media outlets that in what he reviewed of Trump's messages, Trump was "describing the crime of rebellion" but that "legal experts have to analyze the terminology and establish all that."

White House Response

During a White House press conference on Thursday afternoon, when inquired by a journalist, "Does the president want to put to death members of Congress?", the executive branch representative answered: "Absolutely not."

"It's important to note about what the ex-commander in chief is addressing," the representative declared. "There are current representatives of the federal government who coordinated to organize a video message to members of the US military, to serving soldiers encouraging them to disobey the executive's proper directives."

She stated: "The purity of our military relies on the hierarchy, and if that structure is compromised, it can lead to people getting killed, it can result in chaos, and that's what these members of Congress ... are essentially promoting."
